Newlonsburg Music Academy – Faculty

Sylvia Andrae (Piano and Organ)/Choir Room earned a B.A. from Lenoir-Rhyne University, N. C., an M.R.E. from Union Theological Seminary, N. Y. City, and Cantor’s Certification from the Royal Conservatory, Stockholm.  She has performed numerous organ recitals both in Sweden (where she resided for twelve years) and in the U. S.  She has held positions as choir director and organist in various churches.  She is a frequent rehearsal and performance accompanist for instrumentalists, vocalists, and choirs.  She teaches piano and organ at Seton Hill University and is organist at Christ’s Lutheran Church, Murrysville.

David Bomstein (Clarinet)/Room 101 is a native of Buffalo New york. He holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Youngstown State University, and a Master’s Degree in Performance from Carnegie-Mellon University. He has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and has led the Clarinet sections of many of Pittsburgh’s best Community groups. Dave currently leads the Clarinet section of the Ringold Band, a community outreach ensemble. Perhaps above all though, his private teaching, he enjoys instilling good playing habits, and an appreciation of the discipline of playing music.

Lauren Bradley (Voice)/Choir room is a graduate of Seton Hill University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Education.  Ms. Bradley is currently teaching general music and chorus in the Franklin Regional school district.  Her students have received an excellent rating in multiple adjudication festivals.  Lauren is a freelance soloist in the Pittsburgh area.

Jane Gimigliano (Clarinet)/Room 101 is a Pennsylvania Certified teacher, graduating cum laude from the mathematics department of Chatham College, and is currently employed as technology coordinator with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit of Pittsburgh.  Because of her belief that music and mathematics are interrelated, she has shared her devotion to both by studying music at Westfield State College in Westfield, MA, and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts where she performed with the orchestra, marching band, and wind ensembles as clarinet soloist.  For the past 20 years, Jane has been co-principal clarinetist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic, while providing multiple individual performances with the Edgewood Symphony, Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, and East Winds Symphonic Band.

Tom Marinelli (Guitar)/Room 101 is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied music and earned a B.M. in music.  He also has a M.A.from Duquesne University.  While in Boston he worked professionally as a musician and recording engineer.  Tom is a talented composer, guitarist and bassist.  He dedicates his time to teaching guitar, theory, and music technology, as well as producing and recording other artists.

Daniel Parasky (Flute & Piccolo)/Room 208 is a summa cum laude graduate having earned music degrees from Boston (M.M.M.E) and Duquesne University (B.M). His flute students have placed into various honors ensembles, workshops and soloist competitions at the local, regional, national and international level. Many students have earned scholarship to pursue music at the collegiate level. Dan is the the administrator for the Newlonsburg Music Academy. He is also an avid exerciser who teaches daily group fitness classes including Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, RPM, Body Step, Body Attack and Body Flow. Richard Salvante (Strings)/Room 106 is the director of the elementary/middle school string program at the Franklin Regional School District.

Jim Sheppard (Saxophone)/Room 206, saxophonist and instrument repair technician has been playing and repairing musical instruments for over 40 years. Jim entered the U. S. Navy as part of the Naval Musician Enlistment Program and attended the Navy School of Music.  After a four-year enlistment in the Navy, Jim attended San Diego City College and Duquesne University, majoring in music. He is the co-leader of the “Burgh Big Band,” plays with the “Graham Grubb Orchestra” and the “Golden Brown Blues Band.”  Jim Sheppard currently serves the music education community as a repair technician, clinician, and private saxophone instructor as owner of Jim Sheppard music, providing repairs to both professional musicians and many school bands.

Philip VanOuse (Lower Brass)/Room 104 is a graduate of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (B.M.) and Carnegie Mellon University (M.M.) and is the principal tuba player for the Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Orchestras and the McKeesport Symphony.  He is a longtime member of Eastern Watershed Quartet, the Pittsburgh Ceremonial Brass and is bass trombonist with the Tuesday Night Big Band.   He is an active clinician of low brass and serves on the faculties of Washington & Jefferson College and Duquesne University.
