Witness

We seek to communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ with others through the following:

  • New Member Evangelism

Opportunities at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church

Evangelism is important at Newlonsburg, for we are called to share the good word of God’s love. From our Sunday morning welcome in worship, our Opportunities at Newlonsburg, and our service in the community, we center around God’s Holy Word, Christian Hospitality and Outreach to a world in need.

The New Member Evangelism Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month. During these meetings, we plan inquiry classes, gather new member family biographies, update the new member picture board and provide information to inquirers and members about the numerous opportunities within Newlonsburg.

Our Inquirer Classes are offered in the Fall and Spring. For more information please call the church office (724) 327-0061 or send email to NewMemberEvangelism@newlonsburgchurch.org or AdministrativeAssistant@newlonsburgchurch.org.

  • Care of Members Committee

At Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church, we’re a “community of believers,” and as a community, we care for our members and those who are hurting.

  • Stephen Ministry

stephen_ministryStephen Ministry is our congregation’s one-to-one care-giving ministry. Stephen ministers are trained Christian caregivers who walk with an individual while he or she passes through a rough period in life…(click for more)

  • Home Communion

Our pastors and elders provide the opportunity for our homebound members to receive communion during visitations semi-annually or as requested.

  • Service/Sermon Tapes

The 11:00 worship service and sermons are tape recorded and are available to those who wish to hear them. For more information please call the church office, 724-327-0061 or email at newlonsburgpresby@windstream.net.

  • Prayer Chain

Should you want to have others pray for you or a concern of yours, the NPC Prayer Chain will do so. The prayer chain is started by calling the church office or contacting Dreama Delmar, she in turn will contact the next person in the chain to join in prayer for you.

  • Golden Seniors Luncheon
Each spring and fall the Care of Members Ministry and the Deacons sponsor a luncheon for the “Golden Seniors” of the church.
Our members join together for a sandwich, salad and dessert luncheon with fine fellowship and lovely music.

  • Bereavement Committee

When a death occurs in our church family, the Bereavement Committee offers to prepare a reception, luncheon, or dinner for the family and friends of the deceased. This is a tangible way to show we care and provide sympathy to fellow members.

  • Emergency Meals

Throughout the year emergency meal team prepares and delivers a meal to members who have experienced a loss, are recovering from illness or surgery or who have had a new baby. The member is contacted ahead of time to see if a meal is desired and when would be the best time to deliver it. Karen Brock coordinated the volunteer cooks for this effort.

  • Wheels and Wings

Wheels and Wings finds volunteer drivers to transport homebound members to doctor appointments, therapy, to visit a loved one in the hospital or to church functions. The contact person is Susie Siegel.

  • Roving Repairs

NPC has a team of handymen (and women) who help with simple repairs, home maintenance or household emergencies that a congregation member may no longer be able to do. No job is too small. The contact person is Sue Billings.

  • Caroling for Homebound Members

Each December members meet at the church and have the opportunity to spread some holiday cheer to members of our congregation who are homebound. This holiday event is truly appreciated by the people we visit. Not only are the traditional carols sung to our homebound members but gifts of cookies and fruit are delivered.

NPC USES TALENTS

In November of 2008, the church received an anonymous gift with a letter.  The letter contained a challenge:

People of all ages are asked to take care of a“talent”, in this case $20.00, for the Master over the next 3 months. Then they bring them and whatever the talent has garnered back to the church.
