NPC evaluates Hymns

Newlonsburg was selected by the Presbyterian Publishing Company to try out hymns they are considering for the new Presbyterian hymnal.  After singing these hymns a few times at church, the congregation was surveyed

Are you 20 something, 30 something, or somewhere close?

Adult ed is ready to offer you a Sunday morning seminar. Grab a cup of coffee and come to the front of Fellowship Hall at 9:45. On Sunday January 17th, we will have good morning munchies and discussion along with some questions in a brunch and munch sort of style.  Rachel & Mike Oates and Alex Gebrosky have been working with the Adult Ed committee and we decided to start by finding out who we are. Did you know there are about 90 of us around the area between Oakland and Delmont? Even more if we go further afield. The annual meeting is on January 24th, with worship at 9:30 so we will not meet that day. BUT beginning January 31st, we will have a topic of the day. We will make a quick read of a one page set up sheet and then take on the topic and see what our collective thoughts and questions are as we stretch our minds and grow in faith. We will share some “glads and sads” as the KIC crew like to call them each week so we can hold one another in our thoughts and prayers. Come catch up with old friends; make new friends. We are excited about what we can become! This could be the start of something big!

HAVE A HEART

Each ministry has come up with jobs of a “one time” nature that we hope you will consider giving to the church and its ministry.  We asked you to choose a heart that suits you and your gifts. Outreach came up with this idea as they reflected on our generosity for mission afar and recognize that an incredible lot of mission happens in our building. So we need to care for our building and in house ministries with the same sort of heart and generosity. About half the hearts were chosen.  Look for the remaining hearts in the Sunday bulletins and pick one where you can use your talents and gifts.  The hearts will be as broad as “paint a room”, “shovel the walks”, “bake bread for communion” “bake for RAM”, “dust a classroom”, “scrub some steps”, “prepare a bulletin board”, “design a bulletin cover or take home piece”, “share music”, “do small talk”, “change the outside sign”.

NPC USES TALENTS

In November of 2008, the church received an anonymous gift with a letter.  The letter contained a challenge:

People of all ages are asked to take care of a“talent”, in this case $20.00, for the Master over the next 3 months. Then they bring them and whatever the talent has garnered back to the church.
